Why Most New Year’s Resolutions Don’t Stick And What We Are Doing Differently This Year

  • Jul 1
  • 4 min read

By now, you’ve probably heard the statistic that stops people in their tracks every January. Most New Year’s resolutions fail, and they fail fast.

Research shows that nearly half of people abandon their resolutions by the end of January, and by February, close to 80% are completely off track. Not because they didn’t care. Not because they lacked motivation. But because most resolutions are built on willpower alone, without considering biology, stress, or real life.

And that’s the part we don’t talk about enough.

We set big goals in January…

Then stress kicks in. Sleep suffers. Hormones shift. Energy dips.

And suddenly it feels like we’re the problem, when really, the system was never sustainable to begin with.

What Tim and I Are Actually Doing This Year

This year, Timm and I decided to do something different.

Instead of dramatic overhauls, we focused on small, realistic changes:

Eating consistently and intentionally

Continuing movement we can actually sustain

Not drinking at home

Prioritizing recovery, rhythm, and nervous system support

Were there birthdays and celebrations this week? Of course.

Did we “fall off”? No, because the goal was never perfection.

And just a few weeks in, we’re already noticing changes in how our bodies feel, our energy, and our focus.

We’ve also both ordered the Organic Acids Test (OAT), because I truly believe in practicing what I preach. This work isn’t theoretical for me. It’s personal.

Why I Created the Group (And Why It Matters Right Now)

This approach, small, sustainable, informed changes, is exactly why I created my group program.

Not as another January reset.

Not as an extreme detox or overhaul.

But as a way to help people understand how their body is actually functioning, so the changes they make this year are guided by clarity instead of guesswork.

When you understand:

how stress is affecting your brain chemistry

how your gut is influencing mood and energy

where nutrients are depleted

and which systems are under the most strain

you stop blaming yourself when willpower isn’t enough.

This group gives you data first, so your changes actually last.

A Quick Reminder About the Group

I’m so grateful for the incredible women who have already enrolled and enrollment will remain open through the end of the month before our first group begins.

This program is for people who:

don’t see themselves as “mental health patients”

aren’t looking for diagnoses or medications

but feel tired, foggy, overwhelmed, or just off

and want to optimize mood, energy, and resilience

What’s included:

Personalized Organic Acids Test (OAT) analysis

Education on the brain–gut–stress–metabolism connection

A 1:1 roadmap based on your data

Support, accountability, and a thoughtful pace

To put this in perspective:

My private 1:1 functional psychiatry program, with this testing, typically cost $4,800+.

This group is $1,200, offering the same depth of insight and personalization, just delivered through a group format so it’s more accessible without sacrificing quality.

Enrollment closes at the end of the month as we prepare for our first group session.

This program is for people who are ready to move from curious to clear — and from functioning to thriving.

A Big, Exciting Start to the Year

What’s been really striking to me is how, once I committed to this slower, more intentional pace, everything else started to align.

✨ My office officially opened, and I’ve begun seeing patients in person

✨ The group program is filling with thoughtful, motivated women

✨ And I’m heading into a busy and exciting speaking season

Coming Up:

January 27th – I’ll be on KESQ’s Eye on the Desert with Diana Marlow, talking about the Women’s Show and my upcoming talk

February 15th – I’ll be speaking at The Women’s Show, presenting Your Body Whispers Before It Screams

To find out more and purchase tickets, click here: Womens Show

February 28th – I am on a wellness panel at the Women’s Confidence Summit in Rancho Mirage

Every one of these conversations centers on the same truth:

👉 Your symptoms aren’t random — they’re communication.

For My Paid Subscribers 🤍

As a thank-you for supporting this work, starting in February, paid subscribers will receive access to our private Facebook community.

This will be a small community with big support, focused on:

continued education

thoughtful discussion

accountability without pressure

It’s a safe, grounded space for people who are actively investing in their long-term health.

Final Thought

If January already feels heavy. or if you’ve caught yourself thinking - “I should be further along by now” - let this be your reminder:

Lasting change isn’t about doing more.

It’s about listening earlier.

Your body whispers long before it screams.

And this year doesn’t have to be about fixing yourself, it can be about finally understanding what your body has been asking for all along 🤍
